How to transfer my Notice of Intended Marriage NOIM to another Celebrant.

The Couple should ask the Original Celebrant to transfer the file or  the NOIM to the new Authorised Celebrant to transfer marriage documents (specifically the NOIM) between Celebrants in Australia.

The Original Celebrant should formally transfer the file to the New Authorised Celebrant, often via state BDM online systems or by registered mail or physically, in person.

The New Celebrant must re-verify Identity Documents, Sight the supporting documents (Birth Certificates, Passports, etc.), and accept the NOIM before the ceremony.   The original one-month waiting period still applies from the first lodgement date.

Your Celebrant is not obligated to transfer your NOIM.  There is no strict legal requirement for the first celebrant to transfer documents;          if they refuse, a new NOIM will need to be completed.

If the original NOIM cannot be transferred or is invalid, a new NOIM may need to be completed & signed at your first meeting.

Celebrants have quite a few Celebrant contacts and will be able to find someone.

The original Celebrant will have transferred the NOIM, your Script for Ceremony & Legal Paperwork to the acquired Celebrant.

She will also, look after paying the New Celebrant so you don’t have to worry.

That celebrant will need to see your identity documents, & will let you know what is needed.
